Edwin Fox Museum

We were visiting The Edwin Fox Museum to partake in an educational visit. John Orchard of the Marlborough Museum took the children through many activities that showed what life would have been like on Endeavour for James Cook and his crew.

Did you know that the Endeavour was about half the size of the Edwin Fox? We are glad we have flushing toilets now because we really didn’t like the idea of emptying the waste bucket over the side of the boat and then having to scrub it clean. We learnt many things about life on a sailing boat. An incredible 34 of Cooks Crew died on the voyage from malaria and dysentery.
